An Afternoon Update

Posted by studentssg on May 6, 2008

Ah journalism. Where the fuck was the controversy in this morning’s Maroon? This was the article ya’ll chose to publish about the Gala? Seriously? Whose ass are you trying to kiss?

We hear that it took $40,000 to make the GALA happen this year. $12,000 worth of the Student Activities Fee went toward its planning between Annual Allocations and 2007-2008 SGFC. Hm, this University is all about doing things price per head: $40,000 / (the 500 tickets I’ve heard were sold) = $80 per head. wtf.

While you’re reading the Maroon check out this. Kudos for Jarrod.

Edit:  Thanks to who commented on this post - $24 per head makes everyone feel better, right?

You know, cost per head usually doesn’t take in outside fund raising.

The $12,000 from Student Activities divided by 500 is a much more reasonable $24 per head.

So really the Dems imported around $25,500 worth of programming ($40,000 minus $12,000 minus $2,500 for tickets). That almost makes up for James Carville…
